Baños: choose your activities
Thermal baths, waterfalls and outdoor activities suit different paces. Choose one main activity per half-day instead of stacking bookings. For rafting or canyoning, explain your experience and ask about the route, equipment and guiding.
The waterfall route
Manto de la Novia and Pailón del Diablo are well-known stops near Baños. Build a route around the places that interest you and plan the return journey. Cycling is not automatically suitable for everyone: ask about road sections, transport and conditions on the day.
Puyo: leave time for the forest
Puyo is a gateway to Pastaza’s Amazonian experiences and combines naturally with Baños. Map proximity does not define a visit: choose a host or guide and ask how long transfers to their location actually take. An overnight stay allows a less hurried programme.
Culture, food and a possible three-day stay
One suggestion is a day in Baños, a day for waterfalls and the transfer, then a guided day around Puyo. For a community visit, ask who will host you and what is offered. A maito meal introduces Amazonian flavours; recipes and wrapping leaves vary between preparations.
